Medical Law
Medical law, my main area of focus, covers:
- Professional law for healthcare professions, statutory health insurance physicians
- Psychotherapists and statutory health insurance physician and dentist law
- Law of medical treatment, civil and criminal liability of doctors
- Hospital law, needs-based planning, financing and chief physician contract law
- Law of private and statutory health and long-term care insurance, remuneration law for healthcare professions and fee distribution
- Pharmaceutical and medical device law, supply of medicines, remedies and aids
- Contract and company law for healthcare professions, including contract drafting, and
- Pharmacy law
Within this whole range of medical law, I have specialised in particular in the professional law of healthcare professions, especially licensing law for doctors, psychotherapists and child and adolescent psychotherapists. I also advise on drafting contracts when setting up a group practice or job-sharing practice and on the sale and transfer of medical and psychotherapy practices.
We also advise on so-called special-needs licences or authorisations, and on drafting contracts for the employment of doctors or psychotherapists.
Insurance Law
Anyone can run into problems with insurance of any kind, whether household contents, liability or private health insurance. To represent your interests, you need advice and active support from experts. Our services also include handling claims arising from road traffic accidents.
Involvement
Alongside my professional work, I am involved in the social sector:
I am interested in how criminal behaviour and mental illness arise and in the responses they call for. For some time (1983–1993), I worked in an interdisciplinary criminology working group. This period produced a number of talks that were presented at national and international congresses, some of which were published.
I am particularly committed to the rehabilitation of people with mental illness. I am a founding member of the Trägerverein für Freie und Therapeutische Wohngemeinschaften der Dynamischen Psychiatrie e.V. (an association running supported and therapeutic shared housing) and have served on its board on a voluntary basis since 1988. This work has also produced a number of congress talks, some of which have been published.
