How should I behave during a house search?

If you are surprised by a police or tax investigation raid, you should do two things immediately:

1. A lawyer should be informed as soon as possible, so they can either head to your location immediately or provide advice over the phone and, if necessary, negotiate the search procedure with the officers.

2. You should always verify that a judicial search warrant exists. This must be presented to you.

You should also ensure that the scope of the search warrant is strictly observed, for example, if certain rooms on the premises are used by people other than yourself.

In some circumstances, it may be advisable to be cooperative and hand over the requested documents or files yourself.

However, the same rule applies here: you should not provide any information regarding the facts of the case without prior legal advice.
